Description
This is a barn and cow house, likely from the 18th century, located about 80 yards east-north-east of Wellington Court. The structure features a high rubble plinth, a timber frame, and weatherboards, with a roof that is partially replaced by corrugated iron. It has ten bays aligned east to west.
On the south elevation, which is now partly obscured by a late 20th-century cow shelter, there are ventilator slits on the left side of the plinth and eight entrances leading to the cow houses. The north elevation includes a hipped brick-built section on the right, which has a blind segmental-headed central panel and is approximately three bays wide. This section is weatherboarded with a tiled roof, and a lean-to partially covers it on the right side. The ridge height drops for the next two bays, where the right part has two openings, while the left part has a corrugated iron roof.
The frame consists of two panels to the wall-plate from the plinth. Inside, there is a loft space over the cow houses, and the trusses feature queen struts to collars from tie-beams. The western part of the barn connects to an adjacent granary.
