Description
This building is a barn that incorporates a cow house, likely dating from the 17th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboards, coursed rubble, woven lath panels, and corrugated iron roofs. The structure has seven bays aligned north to south, with one lean-to extension to the south and a second that envelops the north end and east side of the two northern bays. The three southern bays serve as the cow house under a tollet.
On the east elevation, there are three panels of woven oak laths positioned between a rubble base and the wall-plate, along with two panels on the contemporary north-east extension. The third bay from the north has full-height ledged doors, and there are three evenly spaced lateral doorways leading to the cow house in the southern part. Inside, the barn features raking strut and queen strut trusses, as well as half raking strut trusses in the north-east extension. This barn and cow house is exceptionally large and retains nearly all of its original features, except for the roof covering.
