Description
The Cross House is a house that likely dates from the early 18th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and a stone slate roof, which has end stacks with brick shafts; the stack on the right is surrounded by a roof extension. The house has a two-cell plan that is aligned northwest to southeast, with a c. 1895 extension added to the south, which is not included in this listing. The building is one storey high with an attic.
On the west elevation, there are two early 19th century casement windows with three lights each, featuring Gothick glazing bars and triangular heads. There are also two dormers with raking tops that have a similar design but are shorter in height and include weatherings. Access to the house is from the rear through a 20th-century glazed porch. Inside, the principal room contains re-used early 17th century panelling.
