Description

The White House and its attached service wing at the rear is a house dating from the 17th century, with early 19th-century Gothick alterations and additions. It features a plastered timber frame, sandstone construction, and stone slate roofs, along with a large brick stack positioned to the left of center and two stone stacks at the rear. The building has a rough L-plan, formed by three parallel 17th-century ranges aligned north to south, with a large Gothick wing attached to the east, also parallel.

The house has two storeys and an attic, with four windows on the front. The gables on the north side have decorative fretted bargeboards, and the porch on the front right displays similar decoration. The left section of the house features pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet, with sashes in pointed heads that have a pointed intersecting glazing bar pattern. To the left, there is a French casement window with 16 panes, and to the left of the three gable ends, there is a six-light mullioned and transomed wooden window, along with a five-light similar window in each of the two right-hand gable ends.

On the first floor, there is an intersecting glazing bar sash window to the left and a five-light mullioned and transomed window in each gable. The gable attics contain a four-light mullioned and transomed window on the left and right, with a three-light window in the center. Although the porch is said to be from the 17th century, it has been plastered and features early 19th-century pointed arches. The east front includes corner pilasters and a central section that is advanced between two additional pilasters, with three windows and a central entrance.

Attached at the rear is an early 19th-century service wing that is oriented east to west, featuring a diamond-shafted stone chimney at the west end. The interior has not been inspected.
