Description

Cothill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to 1839. It is constructed of thinly coursed rubble with a slate roof and end chimneys. The building follows an L-plan, with a catslide extension over the cellar at the rear of the main range. It has two storeys and two windows, featuring 3-light casements with cambered heads. A central, ledged doorway provides access, and a kitchen wing projects to the rear. The east gable features cambered brick heads above the windows, arranged in two ranges; one ground-floor window has a panel inscribed "Dairy". Lean-to pig sties with a corrugated iron roof project to the north-west.

The interior includes a through-passage and wide doors to the cellar, which are of barrel-width. The kitchen wing contains a newel stair at the end of the fireplace. Cothill Farmhouse forms part of a complete and remarkably unaltered early-to-mid 19th-century farm complex.
