Description
This barn, located about 30 yards north-west of Newtons, is likely from the 15th century with an extension added in the 18th century. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and is timber-framed, weatherboarded, and topped with a corrugated iron roof. The structure consists of four bays with three pairs of full crucks that are aligned roughly east to west. There are ledged full-height doors leading to the threshing floor in the second bay from the east. The frame has side walls that are two panels high, and the west gable, which does not have a cruck, includes V-struts from the collar of the truss. Additionally, there is a 19th-century lean-to on the south side.
