Description

Putley Court is a house dating to 1712, with later 18th-century extensions. It is constructed of brick-effect stucco and brick with stone dressings, and has slate roofs with end stacks. The house has three storeys and cellars, and originally comprised five bays. It features glazing bar sashes with open scrolled segmental pediments, stone quoins, and a cornice. A central cupola tops the building, housing a bell and weathervane. A one-bay addition exists to the left, and a three-bay addition to the right, both of two storeys. The interior contains an 18th-century staircase, likely built after the main house. Panelling, previously noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Vol II, p 157), is reported to have been removed.
