Description

The Stock monument, located about one yard east of the chancel of Putley Parish Church, is a chest tomb dedicated to Lieutenant William Stock of the Royal Navy, who died in 1828. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a hipped and moulded capping. The tomb has a moulded base and frieze adorned with fluting and panels. The corners are balustered and decorated with acanthus motifs, with quatrefoils positioned above their bases. The inscription and end panels of the tomb have curved corners.
