Description
The smithy and boiler house, located about 15 yards north of Brook Farmhouse, is a building dating from around 1866. It is part of a farmstead complex that includes stables and a tack room to the east, forming the south side of the complex. The structure is made of brick with tiled roofs and features end stacks and a side stack on the south side. It has a rectangular plan aligned east to west and is a single storey.
The north elevation faces the farmyard and includes one semi-circular headed window opening on either side of a round-headed door, which is positioned to the right of center. To the left of the door, there is a 6-pane sliding sash window. The boiler house, which is slightly lower than the main structure, has a single-pitched roof that slopes towards the south. This building is part of a model farmstead complex associated with Brook Farmhouse and is included for its group value as a complete example.
