Description
White House is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the 17th century and altered and extended in the late 18th century. The building features a timber frame that is clad and extended in brick, with tiled roofs and a stack located roughly in the center. It has an irregular rectangular plan, consisting of a two-bay timber-framed section aligned north/south and an 18th-century extension at the north end. The timber-framed part has one storey and an attic, with a cellar beneath the south bay, while the brick addition has two storeys and an attic.
On the east elevation, there is one window in the gable to the left of center, with a brick dentilled eaves cornice to the right and mainly segmental brick window heads. The ground floor of the gable features a 4-light early 19th-century wrought iron casement window, with a similar window on the right side in the two-storey part. There is also a 4-light casement window to the left of center in a single-storey early 19th-century canted brick projection, along with a glazing bar sash window above the cellar steps and a door to the left with a side stack above. The entrance is located to the right of center and has a 4-panelled early 19th-century door. The north elevation shows two gables with attic casements facing the road. Inside, the ground floor rooms of the timber-framed part feature deep chamfers without stops, and there are several 17th or 18th-century plank and ledged doors.
