Description

Yew Tree Farmhouse is likely from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is a brick farmhouse with stone dressings, a hipped slate roof, and end stacks. The building has three storeys and three bays. It features glazing bar sashes beneath stone lintols with dropped keystones. The central entrance has a 6-panelled door and fanlight, sheltered by a lead canopy dating from around 1900. A dentilled brick eaves cornice runs along the top. A brick lean-to addition from the early 20th century is on the left-hand side, incorporating a small one-light casement. A two-storey contemporary extension to the right, also with a dentilled brick eaves cornice, originally served as a ciderhouse. Another similar extension to the rear left was used as a dairy. It represents an unusually complete example of a late 18th or early 19th century brick farmhouse.
