Description
This building is a threshing barn and stock units located approximately 20 metres north of Brierley Court Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and is constructed of sandstone rubble and weatherboarding, with some brick elements. The roof is covered with plain tiles, which have been renewed on the western side. The barn has an L-shaped plan, measuring about 35 metres in length and featuring 12 or more bays. It is a single storey with lofts and has various openings and entrances, including a waggon entrance on the west side. The south gable is notable for having 11 rows of pigeon-holes with stone platforms, as well as ventilation openings. Inside, there is a flagstone threshing floor, lofts, and subdivisions. This barn is part of a remarkably complete agricultural complex.
