Description

Brierley Court Farmhouse is a late 18th-century building situated in Leominster, with an attached hop warehouse and kiln. The farmhouse is constructed of sandstone rubble with a hipped Welsh slate roof, featuring two brick axial stacks at the rear. It has a double-L shaped plan, arranged over two storeys and a cellar, with a three-window front elevation. The windows are 6/6 sashes in broad, moulded cases, set within brick segmental arches. A double-hipped roof dormer, with a 2-light casement beneath scrolled bargeboards and moulded eaves, is positioned on each hip. The central entrance features a 20th-century glazed and panelled door, within a beaded frame, and a simple wooden flat hood. It is flanked by matching sashes. A rear wing has a brick ridge stack and windows including two 6/6 sashes in broad moulded cases, a late 19th-century 6/6 sash, and a larger 18th-century mullion and transom window with leaded lights and a metal casement. This wing also has brick segmental arches and brick modillion eaves. A 20th-century plank door, within a beaded case, sits under a slate-roofed verandah. A further, later wing – likely a hop warehouse – is set at a right angle, with 19th and 20th-century windows, brick modillion eaves, and a tier of loft doors to the gable. A 19th-century hop kiln is located at the rear, with a Welsh slate roof and a cowl. The interior of the farmhouse was not inspected.
