Description
EARDISLEY CP HIGH STREET (west side) SO 3049 - 3149 7/71 Arboyne (Formerly listed as 16/10/67 the Stores) GV II
House and shop, now one house. C17, part rebuilt and refronted late C18 with further mid-to late C20 alterations. Part rubble and roughcast, part timber-framed with rendered infill on rubble base; plain tiled roofs. L-plan; main range of four bays aligned north/south with external rubble chimney and brick stack at south end and to rear north-west; timber-framed wing of two framed bays adjoins to south-west. Two storeys and attic. East front elevation: two bays to-south are widely spaced. Windows are 16-pane sashes with moulded architraves and there is one ground floor wind first floor windows. Second bay has two entrances, ONE WITH C20 glazed double doors and a transom light with three glazing bars, the other with a C19 half-glazed four-panelled door. The third and fourth bays are occupied by a Georgian shop front which has two multi-paned bow windows with entablatures flanking a pair of half-glazed doors with a barred segmental fanlight. Above the shop front is a flat canopy on wrought iron brackets. Attic lights in gable ends. main entrance now at south end and has a four-panelled door and a 6-pane transome light. Rear timber-framed wind is of a single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: Windows are C20 casements. (RCHM, III, p 54, item 12)
