Description

The Old House and Woodbine Cottage are a pair of houses located on High Street in Eardisley, dating from the 17th century and altered in the mid-19th century. They are timber-framed with rendered infill set on a rubble base, topped with a stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses and featuring a brick ridge stack. The buildings consist of two plus two framed bays aligned north to south and are single storey with an attic that includes dormers.

The framing includes three rows of panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in some upper corners. The north end features an exposed collar and tie-beam truss with two struts and a V-strut above the collar. On the east front elevation, the windows are 19th-century casements. The Old House has a 2-light window and a single-light window beneath a continuous plank weathering, along with another 2-light window, also with a plank weathering, on the ground floor. It has two gabled dormers with 2-light windows. Woodbine Cottage features a 2-light and a 3-light window with plank weatherings, as well as a gabled dormer with a 2-light window.

Both houses share a lean-to timber-framed porch from the 19th century and have adjacent 19th-century doors with stained glass panels. There are also 19th and 20th-century additions at the rear.
