Description
A group of three memorials is located approximately 5 meters south of the west porch of the Church of St Andrew and St Mary. This group consists of two chest tombs and one pedestal tomb, all dating from the early 19th century. They are made of sandstone ashlar with moulded plinths and capping.
The Powell memorial chest tomb features three-quarter corner balusters that flank a fielded inscription panel, with rosettes in the angles and a band of reeding adorned with rosettes below a pyramidal capping. The Powell memorial pedestal tomb has rebated corners and a fielded inscription panel, which includes a band of swagging beneath its capping, topped with an acorn finial that is partly mutilated. The Slade memorial chest tomb has shaped end panels that flank a rectangular inscription panel, which is accented with a shaped inset and florettes in the spandrels.
