Description

A service wing and outbuildings, dating from the early 18th century, with later 20th-century rebuilding, originally part of Chandos House in St Owen Street. The building is constructed of brick, with a Welsh slate roof and a brick ridge stack. It now functions as shops and flats. The main facade has a nine-window range, with five original six-over-six sash windows under cambered flat arches. To the right are a buttress and four further six-over-six sash windows, three with overlights, set within 20th-century brickwork. There is a moulded wooden eaves course. Various 20th-century entrances and window replacements are incorporated, some set beneath original 18th-century segmental arches and a storeyband. A returned side elevation features an 8/8 sash window over a 20th-century window. At the rear are a mix of 19th-century sash windows, 20th-century casements, and entrances. The building holds group value as part of the wider Chandos House ensemble.
