Description

The railings and retaining wall to the west of Townsend House were built in the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The structure features coursed rubble and wrought iron. The low retaining wall is approximately 50 meters long and includes a central recessed gateway from the 20th century, which is flanked by square gate piers. The railings are designed with simple finials and urn finials on the standards, supported by scrolled stanchions behind. This structure is included for its group value.
