Description
This barn, located about 30 yards east-southeast of Lower House Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of rubble with a timber frame, weatherboards, and a stone slate roof. The barn has a T-plan layout, featuring four bays at the front and three bays at the rear left, with a continuous cat-slide extension at the front of the right-hand bay. There are full-height corrugated iron doors on the second bay from the right and a small door on the left side of the front cat-slide extension. The rear section has a high rubble plinth, a cill beam, truncated corner posts, and weatherboards. Inside, there are heavy cambered tie-beams and raking struts to the principals, along with a local type end gable that includes rubble infill between the rafters and tie-beam. The barn has group value with the nearby stables and farmhouse.
