Description
Firs Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and late 20th century. It is constructed from rubble with stone slate roofs, featuring a brick ridge stack located to the left of center and an end stack on the right. The building has an L-plan layout, with a through-passage across the main east-west range just before it connects to the lower north-south wing. The main range has two storeys, while the subsidiary wing has one storey and an attic.
The main range includes four windows: a large five-light 20th-century metal casement to the right of center and four evenly spaced three-light 19th-century casements on the first floor. The entrance is located to the right, featuring a top-glazed 20th-century door, and to the left, there is a 4-centred arch leading to a 20th-century door. The lower wing on the left has stairs leading to the first floor, and beyond the stairs is a linked single-storey building, also made of rubble. The left return of the lower wing features an oak mullioned window.
Inside, there is a 4-centred door head with a ledged door from the 17th or 18th century that leads from the rear side of the through-passage next to the chimney into the principal room, which has large chamfered ceiling beams. A date stone reading "1710" is likely repositioned and set in the west gable. The rear elevation of the main range has four evenly spaced 19th-century two-light casements, some of which have dripstones. The interior has not been inspected.
