Description

Coed Poeth Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a hipped slate roof on the south side with a central stack. The building has a roughly L-shaped plan, with the main range oriented north/south and a subsidiary wing added to the east side at the south end.

The farmhouse is two storeys high. On the south elevation, there are two 2-light 19th-century casement windows on the ground floor, and a centrally placed 2-light, 6-pane casement window on the first floor. The entrance is located to the right at the junction with the subsidiary wing, accessed through a rubble-piered porch that has a depressed 4-centred headed oak lintel and a niche above. The entrance leads through a ledged door, which is possibly from the 17th century, and features strap-hinges. The extension to the right is likely from the 19th century and includes a 3-light mullioned window, with a gabled dormer above it.

The left side of the elevation has a pen-roof that reaches almost to the eaves level of the west side of the main range, with a garage opening on the ground floor and a loft opening above. The north elevation of the main range showcases three sets of wooden mullioned and transomed windows, with six lights on both the ground and first floors, and three lights in the attic of the gable end. The interior has not been inspected, but the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England records that there are good examples of 17th-century panelling.
