Description
This barn, located about 90 yards west-north-west of Lawton's Hope, is likely from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and timber-frame with wattle infill, and is partly covered in corrugated iron. The roof is made of pantiles and corrugated iron. The barn has a rectangular seven-bay layout oriented north-east to south-west and consists of two levels.
On the north-west elevation, there is a full-height entry roughly in the center, with a raking-top opening above a corrugated iron wall on the right side. To the left of the entry, there is a sandstone ground floor featuring an oak-framed doorway. Above this doorway, there is a row of exposed square panels filled with riven woven oak. The north gable is made of sandstone rubble and includes a square loft-opening, along with a small square opening to the right of a ledged oak door. Inside, the barn features raking strut trusses, one of which has three posts extending from the tie to the collar, with V-struts above the collar. This barn is included for its group value.
