Description
Eightlands is a house located in Hampton Bishop, dating from the 17th century with a mid-19th century addition. The earlier part of the house is timber-framed, featuring some brick refacing and wattle-and-daub infill, along with a sandstone plinth and stack topped with a brick shaft. It has a thatched roof. The 19th-century addition is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The original house consists of two framed bays oriented east to west, facing south, with the later house adjoining to the east. It has a central entrance, a west gable end stack that includes a bread oven, and a rear outshut. The original house is single storey with an attic, featuring two glazing bar sash windows and a central ledged door. The 19th-century addition has three glazing bar sash windows, a gabled porch, an overlight, and a panelled door. The 19th-century house is included for its group value.
