Description

The Priory is a house built in the mid-19th century, featuring a stucco exterior over brick and a hipped Welsh slate roof. It has two brick end stacks and a stack at the rear. The building stands three storeys high with a cellar and has a three-window front. The central window is a 6/6 sash, flanked by two 8/8 sashes, all set under segmental arches. The second floor has similar window arrangements, and the house features deep boarded eaves, quoins, and a firemark.

The central entrance has a part-glazed panelled door with a blocked fanlight, flanked by 8/8 sash windows. There is a slate-roofed verandah supported by cast-iron trelliswork above a sill band. On the right side, there are two margin-glazed round-headed lights under semicircular brick arches at ground level. To the left, there is a two-storey wing with a hipped roof, featuring a four-light casement window above a 20th-century three-light casement.

Inside, the house has a 19th-century dogleg staircase with stick balusters, a moulded rail, and turned newels. On the second floor, there are five four-panel doors with architraves and wall cupboards. The first floor features three six-panel doors, two four-panel doors, architraves, a wall cupboard, and an inserted 19th-century hobgrate with a wood surround and overmantel. The ground floor includes a cornice and picture rail, two six-panel doors, and windows with architraves and shutters, along with alcoves and wall cupboards. The cellar is stone-lined, with chamfered ceiling beams and posts, wine bins, and two plank doors.
