Description
The Lawns is a house built in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a stone plinth and features a hipped Welsh slate roof, along with four brick end stacks that have stone bands. The house has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall, presenting a symmetrical three-window range. The windows are margin-glazed sashes with stone sills, set beneath keyed and grooved stucco lintels. The central bay is recessed and includes a margin-glazed door with a fanlight, all within a round-headed case under a keyed and grooved stucco semicircular arch. This central bay is flanked by margin-glazed casements and has a painted storey band. A plaque on the rear of the house indicates the date "T.M. 1848."
Inside, there is a dogleg staircase with stick balusters leading to the first floor, and a 20th-century flight to the attic, featuring a margin-glazed staircase light with an architrave. The first floor includes six four-panel doors, cornices, and architraves. On the ground floor, there is an early 20th-century fireplace, six-panel doors with architraves, cornices, a marble fireplace, a wood-lined arch, wall cupboards, and a tiled wood fireplace. The cellar is stone-lined with brick arches.
