Description

Holly House is an early 19th-century house located on Aylestone Hill, Hereford. The house is constructed of ashlar and brick, with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. It features two brick end stacks and a stack to the rear. The two-storey house has a basement and a three-window front. The windows are 8/8 sashes with stone sills and painted reveals, set beneath gauged brick flat arches. The central entrance comprises a six-panel door in a moulded case, with a fanlight above, set within a semicircular painted gauged brick arch. Flanking the door are further 8/8 sashes, also under painted gauged brick flat arches. A painted storeyband runs across the facade and basement windows flank the steps leading to the front door.

The interior includes a dogleg staircase with stick balusters and a swan neck rail. On the first floor, there are five six-panel doors with architraves, along with skirting and three four-panel doors with architraves. The ground floor features four six-panel doors with architraves, a marble fireplace, cornices, a wall cupboard, and skirting, as well as panelled risers to the windows. The cellar is stone-lined with brick vaulting, and contains a four-panel door, along with three plank doors featuring cambered heads and a plank door to the exterior.
