Description
St Hylda's is a house dating from the early 19th century, constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and brick end stacks. It features a central staircase plan and stands three storeys tall with a cellar. The front has a three-window range consisting of 6/6 sash windows with stone sills, set under segmental arches, and 4/4 sash windows. The eaves are adorned with brick modillion detailing. The central entrance is a two-panel door with margin glazing and a fanlight, also under a segmental arch.
Inside, the house retains a dogleg staircase with stick balusters and trellis-work. On the second floor, there is a part-glazed panelled door and four-panel doors. The first floor features panelled shutters on the windows, fluted architraves, six-panel doors, a cornice, a picture rail, and a wood fireplace. The ground floor includes four- and six-panel doors, architraves, exposed (possibly reset) chamfered ceiling beams, a picture rail, and a cornice. The cellar has a 20th-century flight of stairs with stick balusters and a well.
