Description
Aylestone Hill House is a house built in the late 18th century, with additions from the 19th century. It is constructed of brick and stone, topped with a hipped slate roof and features brick end stacks and a stack at the rear. The house has three storeys and a cellar, with a three-window range that includes late 19th century plain sashes set under gauged brick flat arches, with painted sills and reveals. There is a storey band and corbelled brackets at the eaves. The central entrance features a half-glazed door from the 19th century, accompanied by a fanlight. This entrance is flanked by stone bays from the late 19th or early 20th century, which have central cross windows and are supported by plain columns. These columns hold up a balustrade with vase-shaped balusters and a modillioned parapet. The house is reported to have a staircase with a highly decorative cast-iron balustrade.
