Description

GARWAY CP - SO 42 SE

5/20 Barn about 80 yards north of New House Farmhouse

GV II

Barn. "TM 1802 IC" on tie-beam with earlier origins and C19 additions. Small section of timber wall-framing with sandstone rubble and corrugated iron roof. Eight bays aligned roughly north-west/south-east. South elevation has opposed cart-entries in third bay from left and third bay from right, ventilation loops and is partly masked by late C20 lean-to extension to centre and C19 cowshelter to right. Interior: south wall between threshing floors has square framing; possibly late C17 to early C18 and raking struts from ties to principals. The dated beam is immediately to the west of the western threshing floor. The rubble walls appear to have been built largely in C19 and older trusses re-used. New House Farmhouse is not included in this lsit.
