Description

Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with alterations in the late 18th century and heightening in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, with an 18th-century front made of whitewashed brick and some render. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are whitewashed brick stacks on the left gable and at the rear. The building features dentil eaves and a rendered plinth, along with a first floor band and a first floor lintel band. It has two storeys plus a garret and consists of three bays.

The central doorway has a 20th-century door with an overlight, while there are single sash windows on either side. Above these, there are two similar sashes under segmental arches, with a single central blind segmental arched recessed panel. All openings have wedge lintels. At the rear, there is an early 17th-century wing made of coursed rubble and brick.

Inside, the 17th-century range includes chamfered beams. The ground floor right room is accessed from the rear through an archway featuring a keystone and imposts. The ground floor left room has re-used early 17th-century panelling with a decorative frieze. Throughout the building, there are 17th and 18th-century doors, some with H-L hinges and one with cock's-head hinges.
