Description
The Grantham Canal milepost, located approximately 1200 metres southeast of Main Street in Kinoulton, is a late 18th-century cast-iron post. It features a rounded top and moulded edges, with raised letters that read "12½ MILES FROM THE TRENT." The figure "12½" is painted on the post. The canal was authorized in 1793, and this section was constructed by James Green, a surveyor working for Lord Middleton of Wollaton Hall.
