Description
The Mann tomb chest, located immediately southwest of the tower of the Church of St Luke, is a Grade II listed structure dating from 1801. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features recessed, fluted, square corner piers. The tomb has a moulded base and a weathered top. Each side of the chest is adorned with oval panels that contain inscribed slate tablets. The inscriptions commemorate George Mann, who died on September 20th, 1826, aged 82; Mary, the wife of George Mann, who died on June 20th, 1812, aged 67; and William Mann, who died on May 26th, 1801, aged 54 years.
