Description
The lodge and attached gateway, built around 1846, is constructed from rock-face ashlar with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. It has a single stack with four shafts located at the rear left. The building has ashlar coped gables with kneelers and ridge finials, and a chamfered plinth. It is a single storey plus attic structure with three bays. The central bay projects and is gabled, featuring a single canted window with a two-light casement, which has an ashlar mullion, flanked by two single-light casements. To the right, there is a small fixed light set back, and to the left, there is a slightly set back lean-to. In the attic, the central bay has a two-light ashlar mullion casement with a Tudor style dripmould.
Attached to the right of the lodge is a low rock-face ashlar wall topped with an open ashlar wall that has moulded coping. A single ashlar pier with moulded coping and an orb finial is set on a plinth to the right. This is followed by a decorative iron gate, and further right is a larger ashlar pier on a moulded base, which features foliate decoration on both the front and rear, topped with moulded coping and a lion holding a shield. Adjacent to this are decorative double iron gates and corresponding piers, gates, and walls further to the right.
