Description

Manor Cottage, Number 2 Hall Gates and the adjoining wall are two cottages built in 1735 and altered in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed of red brick with some blue brick chequering and feature an ashlar plinth. They have a plain tile roof with a single large red brick ridge stack at the center, along with additional red brick stacks on the right gable and another ridge. The gables are coped with brick and have kneelers, while the eaves are adorned with dentils. A band of red brick stretchers and blue brick headers runs along the first floor. The structure is a single storey plus attic, consisting of six bays.

There are two doorways beneath segmental arches, each with plank doors. A lean-to porch extends over the doorways, forming the roof of the projecting bays, which date from the 20th century. Each bay features a two-light casement window with glazing bars at the top and single lights in the side walls, all with ashlar sills. On either side of the cottages, there are single Yorkshire sash windows. Above, four gabled half dormers are present, each with a single bargeboard and a single glazing bar casement under segmental arches. A plaque inscribed "J. E. 1735" is centrally located on the building. To the right, there is an attached red brick wall with ashlar coping, extending about four meters and terminating at the gatehouse, which is listed as a separate item.
