Description

Church House is a house built in 1713, with 19th-century alterations. It features red brick, blue brick, and some ashlar, topped with a plain tile roof. The left gable has a red brick stack added in the 19th century. Decorative bargeboards with pendant finials enhance its appearance. The building is set on an ashlar and brick plinth with a blue chamfered brick band above. The walls consist of red brick stretchers and blue brick headers, except for the first floor left two bays, which have a first floor band.

The house is two storeys high with a two-bay wing and a single-bay gabled wing to the right that includes a garret. The central doorway features a studded plank door. To the left of the door is a single cross casement window, and to the right is a two-light ashlar mullion glazing bar casement. Above the door, there is a single similar ashlar cross casement with a flush ashlar quoin surround, and to the right, a single similar ashlar mullion casement, all topped by a brick band. The garret has a single glazing bar casement.

On the south or church front, there is a central ridge red brick stack, a first floor band, and a band over the first floor lintels. The central window is a two-light casement, flanked by single three-light ashlar mullion casements. Above, there are two similar two-light ashlar mullion casements and a single oeil de boeuf over the band. All windows have glazing bars. The right gable wall features a small ashlar plaque inscribed "J.E. 1713."
