Description

The Aviaries and adjoining garden walls at Flintham Hall are mid-19th century structures, with the garden walls dating from the early 19th century. They are built of brick and feature hipped slate roofs, rebated and soffited eaves, and ramped slab coping. The aviaries are designed in a single and two-storey format with nine unequal bays, and all openings have elliptical heads. The doors consist of metal frames covered with metal mesh.

The central part of the aviaries has a canted two-storey projecting bay, flanked by single-storey wings that end in square pavilions. The south front includes a blank opening and door to the left, followed by a door flanked by single blank openings, and then two doors to the right. The central bay features three openings, with two doors to the right, followed by a door flanked by single blank openings, and another door with a blank opening beyond. The left return angle has three doors, while the right return angle has a single large opening. Above the central bay, there are three unglazed openings with glazing bars and pigeonholes, topped by a pyramidal vent with a lead roof. The east end of the structure has three doorways.

The adjoining walls to the sculpture garden are also made of brick and extend approximately 200 meters in length, featuring ramped slab coping.
