Description
The Aviary in Jephson Gardens, Royal Leamington Spa, is a late 19th-century structure built from ashlar, brick, cast iron, and timber, featuring a slate roof and a tile floor. It is a single tall storey with a balustraded portico that houses the aviary. The building has a stepped plinth and the portico includes openings at the center and corners, adorned with an ornate, latticed balustrade and slender Composite columns. These columns support a frieze with round arches over the openings, and a raised central pediment on paired columns showcases ornate latticed and scrolling decoration, complemented by wide eaves. The hipped roof is chamfered at the angles. The floor is made of mosaic tiles. Each return of the building has three round-arched, multi-pane windows with similar columns in between. The hipped roof is chamfered at the angles as well. The aviary was disused at the time of the listing review.
