Description
36 and 36A Hamilton Terrace is a villa that has been converted into offices, built around 1834, likely designed by James Morgan. The building features pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco facade and a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and five first-floor windows. The ground floor includes a plinth and horizontal rustication, while a moulded band runs along the first floor, supported by Ionic pilasters at the ends and between the first and second and fourth and fifth windows. There is a frieze above. The entrance is located in a recessed bay on the left, with steps leading up to a three-panel door topped by an overlight within a tooled architrave. The second bay is wide and canted to full height, featuring 1/1 sash windows; the remaining windows are 2/2 sashes with plain reveals and sills. The roof is hipped with end stacks. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Hamilton Terrace was laid out in 1833-1834, and Nos. 10-38 (even) are part of a group that includes No. 2 Newbold Street and No. 40 Holly Walk.
