Description
Newbold Tavern is a public house built between 1826 and 1830. It is constructed from pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco facade and features a slate roof. The building has a parapeted gable end at both the front and rear and is designed with a double-depth rectangular plan that includes a central entrance and two front rooms.
The tavern stands three storeys high with an attic and has three first-floor windows. The first and second floors are fitted with 6/6 sash windows, while the attic features a 3/6 sash window in the gable. The ground floor has tripartite sash windows, and the central entrance is highlighted by a panelled door set within a porch supported by Tuscan columns and topped with an entablature canopy. On the left side of the building, there are sashes on the left and a doorway on the right. The rear of the building has 6/6 sashes on the second floor and a 3/6 sash in the attic, with end stacks that are truncated on the left side.
The interior has not been inspected. It is noted that Newbold Street was laid out in 1826, providing historical context for the tavern's construction.
