Description
12-14 Bridge Street is a late 18th-century building that consists of three houses, now used as a shop and store. The front facing Carter Gate is colourwashed brick with stone dressings, while the roof is not visible. The building has a ramped coped parapet and stands three storeys tall with four sets of four windows. The Carter Gate side features a band below the parapet, with four segment-headed plain sash windows and four smaller sashes above. The mid-20th-century shopfront includes square piers at the corner and a recessed corner window. The Bridge Street front has bands on the first and second floors, with four glazing bar sashes, one of which is blank, and four similar sashes above, all with keystone lintels. The shopfront here has a recessed glazed door and a single window beneath a continuous fascia. The building has undergone some alterations, particularly in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries.
