Description
The South Parade Hotel, originally two houses, dates from the early 19th century and has been altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof, complete with a coped parapet and gables, and two central ridge stacks. The hotel has a double range plan and stands three storeys high plus a basement, with a six-window arrangement of 1:2:2:1. The central four windows project and are adorned with shaped wrought iron balconies. Above, there are six similar windows, and below, four more similar windows are flanked by moulded segment-headed stone doorcases with overlights and steps that feature twisted cast iron balustrades. The left side has a glazed door, while the right side has a close boarded door, both from the 20th century. To the left, there is an attached boundary wall with ramped brick coping.
