Description

This early 19th-century former school building is now a house. It is constructed of brick with stone and stucco dressings, topped by a hipped slate roof and a square wooden bellcote with a pyramidal roof. The building has a first-floor band, deep moulded wooden eaves, and two ridge stacks. It is square in plan and three storeys high, originally featuring a three-window front. The windows are metal-framed casements with multi-keystoned lintels; those on the upper floor are smaller. A central Roman Doric porch with painted stone lions shelters a part-glazed fielded four-panel door with overlight. Single canted stone bay windows with three 20th-century metal-framed casements flank the porch. Later 19th-century bay windows have been added, alongside late 20th-century glazing.
