Description
Abbeywood is a house built around 1900, located on the northeast side of London Road in Newark on Trent. It is constructed of brick with stone and terracotta dressings, topped with a hipped slate roof that features a single ridge and three side wall stacks. The house has dentillated eaves and Corinthian angle pilasters. It stands two storeys high with attics and has a six-window range of eight-pane sashes. On the left side, there is a canted bay window with a domed roof, while the right side features four sashes with glazing bars in the top lights, adorned with alternating segmental and gabled pediments. The left return showcases a reeded stone doorcase with a shell hood and a half-glazed panelled door. This house is recognized as one of the best examples of its period still standing in Newark.
