Description

William H Brown is a house that has been converted into an estate agent's office. It dates from around 1800 and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, featuring a channelled rusticated stucco ground floor, stone dressings, and a hipped slate roof. It has a rendered plinth, chamfered eaves, and a single side wall stack.

The upper floors have a projecting center with a round-headed recess that contains the windows. The building is three stories tall and has a single tall glazing bar sash window with a rusticated lintel and a semicircular balcony with an iron railing. Above this, there is a small sash window with a rusticated segmental head. The ground floor features a full-width late 20th-century shop window with a door to the right. On the right side, there is a central wooden doorcase with an open pediment supported by consoles, leading to a part-glazed six-panel door with a fanlight. Inside, there is a cantilevered stone dogleg staircase with turned newels and stick balusters.
