Description

Barclay's Bank and Minster House are a pair of early 19th-century houses, later used as offices, and now a bank. The building was extended in the mid-19th century and altered in the mid-20th century. Constructed of brick with stone dressings and a slate roof, the building features chamfered eaves, a single gable, and single roof stacks. Most windows are glazing bar sashes with multi-keystoned lintels. The building is three storeys high with a five-window range, the second floor featuring smaller sashes. The ground floor has a central window, flanked to the left by a 20th-century corniced shopfront with a bow window and glazed door, and to the right by a 20th-century pedimented doorcase with a fanlight. A sash window is located further to the right. Internally, the bank area has a recessed dentillated ceiling panel.
