Description
Pennywise House is a late 18th-century house located on Gainsborough Road in Winthorpe. It is constructed of red brick with whitewashed ashlar dressings and features a 20th-century slate roof with coped gables and two brick gable stacks. The house has two storeys and three bays, with an ashlar band at the first floor level.
The central doorway has a panelled door and a rectangular traceried overlight, flanked by single fluted wooden columns set on pedestals, which support an architrave and flat hood. On either side of the doorway are single glazing bar sash windows with ashlar lintels and keystones, and there are three similar windows above on the first floor. At the rear of the house, there is a two-storey brick wing.
