Description

9 and 11 Albert Street are two houses that have been converted into a shop and offices. They were built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century and mid to late 20th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared stone with stone dressings and have a concrete tile roof with a panelled brick ridge stack. The eaves are stepped.

The structure has three storeys and features a three-window range. On the left side, there are two margin light sash windows, and on the right, there is a tilting casement window. Above these, there are three tilting casement windows, all of which have stone surrounds.

On the ground floor, there is a central late 20th-century shop front, which is flanked on the right by an elaborate ashlar shop front dating from around 1870. This shop front has a shouldered opening with ringed square shafts and foliage capitals, as well as ornamented brackets supporting a hooded fascia. The glazing and door are from the late 20th century. To the left, there is a recessed doorway featuring mid-20th-century marble panelling and a lettered fascia. The buildings are included for their group value.
