Description
The Portland Arms Public House is an early 19th-century building that has undergone mid-19th-century and late 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of stucco and features a slate roof with two rendered gable stacks. The building has a plinth and stands two storeys high, plus attics. The front has a two-window range of top-hung glazing bar casements with keystone lintels. Above these, there are two gabled dormers, each with two-light casements and decorative barge-boards. The entrance is marked by a reeded wooden doorcase topped with a shallow pediment, leading to a 20th-century half-glazed door. This is flanked by top-hung glazing bar casements with keystone lintels, and the property is enclosed by waist-high spearhead railings.
