Description

The former bank, now disused, was built around 1900 and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. It features a combination of ashlar and brick construction, with a granite plinth and a slate mansard roof. The building is designed in the Renaissance Revival style and includes two gable stacks and a single ridge stack, all adorned with shaped double cornices.

Architectural details include a plinth, a cornice at the ground floor, a sill band at the first floor, a main cornice, and a ramped coped parapet supported by volutes. The first floor is characterized by bays defined by paired, fluted Ionic pilasters, while the ground-floor bays are marked by rusticated quoins. The building stands two storeys plus attics and has a two-by-two window arrangement with an angled corner.

On the first floor, there are five wooden mullioned cross casements featuring glazing bar top lights, all surrounded by moulded rusticated surrounds with scroll keystones. The attic includes five large dormers that are flanked by Ionic pilasters and open pediments containing cartouches, with two-light casements that have round heads and scroll keystones.

The ground floor showcases an elliptical-arched doorway with triple scroll keystones and panelled flanking pilasters. Above the doorway is a round window with a scroll keystone set in a strapwork panel, flanked by fluted scroll brackets that support a cornice with mutules. On either side of the doorway, there are two elliptical-arched single-pane windows with toplights and triple scroll keystones, linked by a curved band, and a strapwork cartouche is situated between the windows.
