Description

Westgate House, now used as offices, along with an adjoining coach house and boundary walls, dates from around 1780, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with an ashlar front and dressings, topped with a slate roof that features two brick gable stacks and coped gables. It has a plinth and eaves cornice, and the windows are framed by projecting painted stone surrounds. The house stands three storeys high and has a three-window range of margin light sash windows, with three smaller similar sashes above. The entrance features a moulded ashlar doorcase with a pediment supported by scroll brackets, and a moulded margin stile door with an overlight, flanked by single Venetian windows with glazing bar lights.

To the right is a lower hipped coach house that has two small quatrefoil windows above and two small French windows below. The right return of the building has a blocked pitching eye and a 20th-century glazing bar casement below it. There is also a lean-to addition with a ramped coped wall and a side wall stack, which includes a half-glazed door and a nine-pane window. Beyond this, the boundary wall extends approximately 40 meters and features a ramped coped design with an off-centre double gate.

Additional features include a semicircular curved boundary wall with flat coping and iron railings, along with a central pair of square gate piers that have moulded caps.
